If you do keep a car, expect to rely on a paid garage rather than street parking.

The dining here is genuinely diverse and a notch more affordable than the neighborhoods around it. You’ll find excellent Vietnamese, Thai, and Korean spots tucked between the apartment buildings, classic old-school cocktail bars, and reliable diners. The blocks toward Polk Street open up into a lively strip of restaurants and neighborhood bars, and you’re a short walk from the dim sum and noodle houses at the edge of Chinatown. For a special night, the historic hotel bars up the hill are worth the climb.
Parks and outdoors
This is one of the denser parts of the city, so green space is more about pocket parks and quick access than sprawling lawns. Huntington Park at the top of Nob Hill is a lovely, manicured spot with a fountain and benches, popular with dog owners. For anything bigger, residents head a few minutes over to the open space around the waterfront or catch transit to Golden Gate Park.
